Simulation games are those in which a player completes a task that closely resembles a task that you may do if you were in a certain career or situation during your actual life. Aptly named, simulation games are those in which you take on a character, company, or situation and simulate what it would be like to actually complete the task in a reduced amount of time or in some cases in actual real time.
Three of the most popular subsets of simulation games are construction, lifestyle simulation, and career training simulation games that can be used both for education and for fun. Sim City is one of the most famous simulation games ever although not many people play it on their PC’s. However, many people do enjoy playing its spinoff counterpart Build-A-Lot which has been produced in three different versions and has become very popular in the PC gaming community.
Reality simulation games that involve living a life for artificial people are also quite popular with games such as The Sims taking off with hundreds of different varieties and knockoffs in the online community. Part of the thrill of simulation games is that you feel as if you are living someone else’s life temporarily and have complete control of the game and life.
Other simulation games involve taking a management position such as in the popular Rollercoaster Tycoon series where gamers get to experience the thrill of owning and building a productive roller coaster park from the ground level up.
